Designed and ran test campaigns validating airship structures and sub-systems, and managed the technicians executing them.
Highlights
- Designed an actuator fatigue test jig to load a linear actuator for 30,000+ cycles under 1000 lb cyclic load.
- Designed and instrumented a test setup to load an airship frame to 4000+ lbs and measure strain, deflection and rotation.
- Debugged 30 helium safety valves from an outside vendor and created mechanical and electrical incoming quality test plans.
- Developed material coupon manufacturing procedures for development test samples and flight hardware witness coupons.
- Developed a heated repair procedure for titanium–carbon fiber epoxy-bonded joints on flight hardware.
- Designed a cryogenic environmental chamber to condition various sub-systems to -15°F during tests.
- Managed 10+ test technicians to execute multiple test campaigns validating airship system functionality.
- Set up CAD infrastructure for the testing team using Master Modeling techniques in Solidworks and PDM.
